La Musica

Music has always been a large part of my life. My parents met playing in a swing band back in the 30’s. My mother taught music lessons all her life. Piano, organ, and guitar. Many different types of music have crossed my path and interested me.

In high school, during the early1960’s, several good friends and I formed a musical group “The Malibu’s” doing mostly instrumental surfing music. We had a great time playing parties, dances and other events locally and in nearby towns. After the great Beatle invasion, we realized we should be singing and really changed our style.

We all went to college together in central Texas and soon changed our name to “The Noonday Circus” and before long we were doing well in the Austin club and frat party scene. Our parents rarely had to send us any spending money! We had an absolutely fabulous time.

There is an immediate connection through Music with people that is lacking in Painting. I really enjoy that connection, and am beginning to play more for people than I have in many years, in fact my friend Skip and I are playing together more and more often these days and I really have been enjoying that.

People over the years have asked me about fame, what the fame derived from my Painting means to me. I chuckle and tell them “I’m not in this for the fame, when you’ve had screaming teenage girls storming the stage trying to tear your clothes off, everything else is going to be anti-climactic!”
